The Divine Dance - Frances Lewis

I read a book called ‘The Sun and the Serpent’ by Hammish Miller and Paul Broadhurst. Hammish and Paul dowsed the Michael and Mary earth energy lines that run from Cornwall to Norfolk. I found this book so very inspiring that I just wanted to do the same journey as them. The idea would not leave me alone. I casually asked a friend of mine if she would like to join me and to my great surprise she said YES.

After some discussion we decided that we would take a weekend each month to go in search of the node points where the Michael and Mary lines meet. We were novices at dowsing, but we had maps and more maps and the book The Sun and the Serpent as a guide.

Each month, as our time to go adventuring drew near, we would wonder whether we really could afford the time and afford the money …. there would be slight or big obstacles that appeared in our lives that were calling us to stay home. Mostly we did not respond or listen to the ‘obstacles’ …. we set off on our adventure anyway because we had committed to each other to follow through on this exploration and because (I believe) there was something calling us to deepen.

Every weekend trip was unique and different from the last … as we set off on the trip, we had lots of things to talk about, things that were going on in our lives, in our jobs, in our relationships with friends and family members. We would borrow a car or hire a van, and sometimes we stayed in campsites or cabins along the way. The themes of our everyday life fed into the exploration of the node points and vice versa.

The Michael and Mary lines weave in and out of each other across the UK and around the world. I imagine the earth energy lines are like the meridians we have in the body. There are many churches and mounds along the way they are called Mary or Michael, such as Creech St. Michael church in Somerset and St. Michael’s Mount in Cornwall. The energy lines also link up many sacred sites including Glastonbury, Avebury, and Royston Caves

Where the lines cross is known as a node point; we took this to be a balance point of the masculine and the feminine energy lines, and also a point of depth and power. We had some great adventures along the way and met some really interesting people. Each month on our trip we felt like we dipped down into a much more ancient landscape, and we explored ancient hill forts, dramatic cliff tops, churches and caves ~ did you know there are caves under the town of Royston?

For many years I regularly danced a movement practice known as 5 rhythms. 5 rhythms is a free expressive form of dance. When we found the node point I would dance and Adelina took photographs. We did not set out to produce a book. We were really enjoying the adventure and lots of time in nature and I felt inspired to dance and keep a journal. As we came near to the end of our journey which took about a year, we realised that it would be good to create a book.

Some themes in the book are:
Balancing masculine and feminine energy
Whose rules do we obey?
Being willing to be seen
Honesty and containment.

Actually getting it together to publish the book was another whole adventure in itself, which took many years to complete… have a peep in the shop

Just to note we all have masculine and feminine energy; masculine energy is logical and assertive // feminine energy is intuitive and nurturing.
